The Future of Indonesian Farmers


Indonesia is agrarian country, based on statistics of agricultural land by Ministry of Agriculture 2014 Indonesia has 39.5 million hectares agricultural land (wetland/rice field: 8.1 million Ha, gardens/plantation: 11.9 million Ha, fields: 5,25 million Ha, and land unproductive: 14.25 million Ha). The agricultural sector, includes food crops, plantation, farming, fishing, and forestry. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS), 36.5 percent (41.20 million) from 112.80 million employed population in February 2012 dependent on agriculture, both as farmers and farm workers. So, decrease in the agricultural sector make a number of unemployment in this country will explode, especially until now many agricultural land has been converted for build factories, development of the cities, and residential. Let's build a strong agricultural sector for the future of farmers and farm workers better.
